Broncos Advance to Winners' Bracket Final at SLC Tournament

HOUSTON – Boise State beach volleyball advanced to the winners' bracket final of the Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship after picking up two victories on Friday.

The Broncos (30-11) took down McNeese State 3-0 in the opening round before defeating Houston Christian 3-1 in the afternoon.

Rorianna Chartier and Lily Patock scored the first point of the day from court four, taking down McNeese State's Ella Swansiger and Harlee Tupper 21-9, 21-17. Minutes later, Ava Anderson and Emilia Guerra-Acuña gave Boise State a 2-0 lead with a 21-15, 21-12 victory from the No. 2 position. Addison Wolden and Abbie Wolf secured the opening contest for the squad, winning 21-8, 21-15 at the No. 3 slot.

After taking the first set 22-20 against the No. 4 pair from Houston Christian, Chartier and Patock rallied back from a six-point deficit to win 21-17 in the second to give Boise State a 1-0 lead. The Huskies (11-22) evened the score on court two, but Wolden and Wolf won in straight-sets on court three as the Broncos regained the advantage. Sharli O'Neil and Elli Wolthuis won 26-24, 21-16 at the No. 5 position to clinch the dual for the squad.

Notables

Boise State will face top-seeded Texas A&M Corpus-Christi in the winners' bracket final for the second-straight season. The Islanders defeated the Broncos 3-2 at the SLC Midseason Tournament on March 23.
The Broncos reached 30 wins for the first time in program history.
Rorianna Chartier and Lily Patock moved into the program's single-season top 10 list with 22 matches won on the season. Nine of the 10 members on the list are from this year's roster.
Ava Anderson and Emilia Guerra-Acuña picked up their 15th win of the season from the No. 2 court, tying the program record for the most career wins by a pair at the No. 2 position.
Sharli O'Neil picked up her 30th win of the season, breaking the program's career record for most wins on the No. 5 court.

What's Next

No. 2 Boise State will take on No. 1 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the winners' bracket final on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT. The winner will advance to the championship, while the loser will move to the consolation bracket final.
