Leia Chung Named Mountain West Golfer of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State sophomore Leia Chung earned Mountain West Golfer of the Week honors for the second time this season, the conference announced Friday. Chung is the first Bronco to earn multiple MW Golfer of the Week accolades in the same season.
Chung was the runner-up at the Cowgirl Classic, matching her career-high and the second-best score in school history with a 210 (-6). Her opening round mark of 66 (-6) set a career-low and equaled the third-best round in school history. Through two rounds, she stood at 133 (-8), also a career-low and the second-best 36-hole score in program history.
A native of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Chung helped the Broncos tie for third among 21 teams with an 877 (+13), the fifth-best score in program history. She had 14 birdies, the second-most in the tournament.
This is the fifth career MW award for Chung, who is a two-time MW Freshman of the Week and the Sept. 2022 MW Freshman of the Month. The Broncos have tallied three honors this season. Teal Matsueda garnered MW Freshman of the Week honors on Feb. 22. The Broncos compete in the Bobcat Desert Classic from April 8-10. The tournament will be played at Mission Hills Country Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
