FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Boise State scored eight runs in the first inning and cruised to a 20-11 win over Colorado State, Friday.

With the victory, the Broncos (32-21, 12-9 Mountain West) clinched at least the No. 5 seed in the MW Championship, May 9-11. Boise State will host the event taking place at Dona Larsen Park.

"Our offense showed up early and that is always a great sign for us," head coach Justin Shults said. "We have to clean up some things on defense, but we will take any win at this point in this season.

Mykenzie Hanna began the scoring with a three-run home run, her conference-leading 17th of the season. Three batters later, Hollie Farmer tripled home two runs and scored on a throwing error for a 6-0 lead. Jordyn Hutchins capped the rally with a two-out, two-run single.

The Rams (26-19, 9-11) scored once in the bottom of the first, but the Broncos responded with three runs in the top of the second.

Sydney Groves and Farmer opened the frame with back-to-back doubles for a 9-1 lead. A fielder's choice, error and single loaded the bases for Hutchins. The senior came through with her second two-run single and Boise State led 11-1.

In the fourth, Boise State was leading 11-2 before it put together a two-out rally. Hutchins doubled in a run and scored on a single by Alycia Flores. Hanna followed with an RBI-double for a 14-2 lead.

After the Rams cut their deficit to 14-7, the Broncos picked up a run in the fifth on an RBI-double by Karizma Bergesen.

Boise State led 15-9 after six and added five runs in the seventh. Flores singled in two. Brooklynn Pettis, who did not start the game, drove in a run with a single and Groves doubled home a pair.
