Bronco running back one of 50 players recognized
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty collected another accolade, securing one of 50 spots on the 2024 Walter Camp Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding player. Jeanty is one of three Mountain West players to make the watch list.
Jeanty has garnered preseason All-America honors from four outlets and was named MW Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He was named a team captain for the 2024 season. The junior is also featured on the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List, another award that recognizes the top player in college football.
Jeanty's electrifying 2023 campaign featured All-America honors from six outlets and MW Offensive Player of the Year selection. He forced 106 missed tackles and tallied 96 first downs, leading the FBS in both categories. The Lone Star (Texas) High School product became the first player since 2016 to register 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a 10-game span.
The 2024 Player of Year watch list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November and three finalists will be announced on Nov. 26. The 2024 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the FBS head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show on Dec. 12.

Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
