BOISE, Idaho – Boise State head men's golf coach David Trainor has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the university through the 2026-27 season, director of athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Tuesday.

Trainor recently entered his third season at the helm of the program.

"I am thrilled with the direction of our program, and I am very grateful for Jeramiah's leadership and commitment to me as head coach," Trainor said. "My family and I love Boise and Boise State, and I am happy we will be here for the foreseeable future. Go Broncos!"

The 2023-24 season was a highlight for the Boise State program on the course and in the classroom. Cole Rueck won the Mountain West individual title and went on to compete at the Scottish Open as the only amateur and collegian in the field. Rueck is
the second golfer in program history to win a Mountain West individual title.

"I'm excited for the future of our men's golf program," Dickey said. "Coach Trainor has developed our student-athletes in the classroom and on the course with class. We're excited to continue to continue the momentum he has built with the program."

Boise State has also seen growth in the classroom with three-straight semesters above a 3.0 GPA – the first such stretch for the program since Fall 2020.

In his first season with the Broncos, Trainor guided Max Charles to set a score of program records as the latter left as one of the most accomplished golfers in program history.

Boise State recently logged its best finish under Trainor in the 2024-25 season opener. The Broncos finished runners-up to Purdue at the Island Resort Intercollegiate – they placed three golfers in the top 10 and finished ahead of No. 21 Georgia on the leaderboard.

The season continues next weekend at the Ram Masters in Fort Collins, Colo., Sept. 17-18.
