Sydney Groves Among Best First Basemen Nationally

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State junior Sydney Groves added to her 2025 preseason honors, Thursday.

The Meridian, Idaho native earned the No. 15 spot on D1Softball's first basemen rankings. Earlier in the month, Groves was named to Softball America's preseason top 100 players.

In 2024, Groves batted .318 and set the Boise State sophomore record with 18 home runs. The round tripper total tied for the team high, the Mountain West crown and 23rd nationally. The total was also tied for second most in school history.

She added nine doubles and set a Boise State single-season record with 57 RBI. She was named to the 2024 NFCA All-Pacific Region First Team, the All-Mountain West Second Team and the Mountain West Championship all-tournament team.
