This season, the Broncos ranked sixth in the nation in scoring offense (37.3) and eighth in rushing offense (240.4 ypg) and total offense (466.0). Boise State finished the year with 3,365 rushing yards, the most in any of the program's FBS seasons (since 1996). The Broncos allowed 1.07 sacks per game, 12th-fewest in the nation. Kage Casey was named second team All-America by The Athletic and Walter Camp while earning first team All-MW honors. Ben Dooley joined Casey on the All-MW first team. Ashton Jeanty totaled 2,601 rushing yards, second-most in FBS single-season history, and won the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award.
In 2023, Boise State ranked sixth in the FBS with 214.9 rushing yards per game and 13th with 1.14 sacks allowed per game. Casey was named a Freshman All-American and Cade Beresford was tabbed first team All-MW. The 2022 unit allowed one sack per game, 10th-fewest in the country. John Ojuwku, who currently plays for the Tennessee Titans, was a first team All-MW selection. Mason Randolph garnered Freshman All-America honors. Ojuwku was also an All-MW pick in 2021, with Dooley and Jake Stetz collecting second team honors.
Before joining the Broncos, Keane coached at his alma mater, UC Davis, from 2016-19. The Aggies were Big Sky champions in 2018, qualifying for the FCS Playoffs. He was also on staff at UC Davis from 2010-12, coaching running backs and offensive linemen. He was a graduate assistant at Tulane from 2008-09 and spent the 2014-15 seasons as the offensive coordinator at College of Idaho.
A native of Palm Springs, Calif., Keane played at UC Davis from 2003-06. He was a four-year letterwinner and started 22-consecutive games as a junior and senior. He won the Bob Oliver Award both seasons, given to the team's "unsung hero." He was the first player in program history to receive the award twice.
Keane's contract is pending Idaho State Board of Education approval.
The Broncos finished the 2024 season with 12 wins, their most since 2019, and secured the program's first appearance in the College Football Playoff after winning their second-straight MW title. Boise State earned the No. 3 seed and a berth in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
