The Broncos (4-1, 1-0 Pac-12) totaled 429 yards of offense on the night while Boise State's defense combined for six sacks in the win. The Aggies (1-4, 0-1 Pac-12) finished with 345 total yards.Â
Boise State scored the game's first 21 points and never looked back. On the opening drive, Madsen found Rasean Jones for a 63-yard pass completion, setting up a 5-yard touchdown rush from Dylan Riley three plays later.Â
Madsen found Matt Wagner for an 11-yard touchdown reception near the end of the first quarter to give Boise State a 14-0 lead after the first fifteen minutes of action. Riley made it a three-score game midway through the second frame, finding the end zone on the ground from 33 yards out. Utah State responded a few minutes later with a 1-yard touchdown pass, cutting the lead to 21-7.Â
The Aggies got the ball back with two minutes to go in the half, but Jake Ripp intercepted a ball tipped at the line of scrimmage and returned it 21 yards for a touchdown. Utah State didn't back down, marching down the field and adding a field goal as the half expired as the Broncos took a 28-10 lead to the locker room.
Canaan Moore once again extended the Boise State lead to 21 with a career-long 43-yard field goal midway through the third quarter.
The Aggies showed some life late, converting on a Boise State fumble with a touchdown and two-point conversion with just under 10 minutes left in the contest.
Boise State shut the door quickly. On the ensuing drive, Madsen found Akeem Wright for a 33-yard reception, then Ben Ford on the next play to put Boise State in the red zone. Ford caught an 11-yard touchdown reception on the ensuing play to give the Blue and Orange a 37-18 lead.
