BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Esports played their first Power Esports Conference Overwatch Series of the season on Monday night but fell 3-0 to Syracuse, as the Orange secured their first-ever victory over the Broncos.
Both teams entered Week 2 coming off a bye, with Boise State looking to build on last year's PEC championship run. Syracuse, however, struck first on Control map Busan, taking a quick 2-0 win behind crisp team fight execution and strong objective control.
The Orange carried that momentum into Escort map Blizzard World. Boise State briefly broke through with a captured objective, but Syracuse's defensive stands consistently shut down Bronco pushes. The Orange closed out a 3-1 result to move to match point.
Map 3 on Runasapi proved the most decisive of the series. Syracuse pushed the bot the full distance while limiting Boise State to minimal progress, sealing the sweep with a complete performance on both sides of play.
The loss dropped Boise State to 0-1 in conference action, while Syracuse celebrated a milestone win over the reigning champions. With several weeks left in the regular season, the Broncos will look to regroup quickly and prepare for a key match up next week.
