BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Rocket League suffered its first loss of the Power Esports Conference season Monday night, falling 3–0 to newly joined Baylor University in a tightly contested series at the Boise State Esports Arena.
The Broncos' trio of Cade Hall (Wuzy), Emiliano Flores (Durtho), and Preston Ferrante (Prstn) knew the matchup would be one of their toughest yet — and Baylor proved ready for the challenge.
Game 1 set the tone for the night, featuring disciplined defense and high-flying saves on both ends. Neither team could find consistent openings until the Bears converted a close-range attack late to take the only goal of the match and a 1–0 series lead.
Boise State looked to respond in Game 2, and wasted no time doing so. Hall scored just eight seconds into the match, giving the Broncos early momentum. The two sides traded goals throughout regulation, but Baylor capitalized on back-to-back strikes in the final minute to pull ahead 4–2. Ferrante beat the buzzer with a late goal, but the comeback fell short in a 4–3 defeat.
With their backs against the wall in Game 3, Boise State again found itself in an early hole after two quick Baylor goals. Refusing to fade, the Broncos rallied to tie the game 2–2 midway through regulation. The match stretched into overtime, but Baylor's Andy sealed the sweep with a double-tap goal to hand Boise State its first loss of the season.
Despite the setback, Boise State remains among the PEC's top contenders and will look to bounce back quickly.
