NFL Broncos: Week Eight

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State football will be represented by six players and one head coach in Week Eight of the NFL season. Scott Matlock and the Los Angeles Chargers start the action with a Thursday night game against the Minnesota Vikings. Four former Broncos will play Sunday, then John Bates and Jeremy McNichols will lead the Washington Commanders into a Monday Night Football showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs. THURSDAY
Los Angeles Chargers (Scott Matlock) vs. Minnesota Vikings – Prime Video, 6:15 p.m.
Scott Matlock played 10 offensive snaps and 11 special teams snaps in the Chargers' 38-24 to the 6-1 Indianapolis Colts. His 74.1 Pro Football Focus special teams grade ranked third on the team. Los Angeles is tied for second in the AFC West at 4-3, ranking fourth in the league in total offense (372.7 ypg).

SUNDAY
Buffalo Bills (Khalil Shakir) at Carolina Panthers – FOX, 11 a.m.
Khalil Shakir and the Bills return to action after a week off. In Week Six, Buffalo fell to the Atlanta Falcons, 24-14. Shakir caught three passes for 33 yards, recording 17 yards after catch and two missed tackles forced. He leads the Bills with 25 receptions this season, totaling 268 yards and two touchdowns. Shakir leads all NFL wide receivers in missed tackles forced (10) and is one of eight players in the position group with over 200 yards after catch. Buffalo is second in the AFC East at 4-2 and ranks third in the NFL in total offense (378.3 ypg).

Miami Dolphins (Cedrick Wilson Jr.) at Atlanta Falcons – CBS, 11 a.m.
Cedrick Wilson Jr. was inactive in Miami's 31-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

New Orleans Saints (Kellen Moore) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – FOX, 2:05 p.m.
Kellen Moore and the Saints fell to the Chicago Bears, 26-14. Wide receiver Chris Olave caught five passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns while linebacker Demario Davis posted 10 tackles.

Denver Broncos (JL Skinner) vs. Dallas Cowboys – CBS, 2:25 p.m.
JL Skinner matched his season-high with 24 total snaps, making one tackle in Denver's 33-32 victory over the New York Giants. The Broncos, who trailed 19-0 entering the fourth quarter, won on a last-second field goal to move to 5-2 and take sole possession of first in the AFC West. Denver's 33 points in the fourth quarter were the most by any team that had been shut out in the first three quarters in NFL history. Before Denver's improbable comeback, NFL teams had won 1,602 consecutive games when leading by 18 or more points in the final six minutes of regulation.

MONDAY
Washington Commanders (John Bates, Jeremy McNichols) at Kansas City Chiefs – ABC/ESPN, 6:15 p.m.

John Bates had one reception for five yards in Washington's 44-22 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The tight end had the team's second-best PFF run blocking grade at 79.8, improving his season grade to a team-high 70.8. Jeremy McNichols played a season-high 24 offensive snaps, running the ball twice for 22 yards and catching two passes for 23 yards. This marked his second career game with over 20 yards rushing and receiving. His 19-yard run in the second quarter was his second-longest rush of the season.
