SEATTLE – Avery Allen and Ava Anderson started off Boise State beach volleyball's fall campaign with a third-place finish at the Alki AVCA Qualifier.

The duo opened the two-day event by winning its first two matches against separate pairs from Oregon to advance to the semifinal round. The tandem fell to Zoe Pabarcus and Ella Tyus (Washington) in the opening match on Sunday before claiming third place with a straight-set victory over Emma Hohenauer and Sarah Wilcock (Washington).

After losing their opening match in the championship bid division, Allyson Alden and Elli Wolthuis ripped off three-straight victories to win the consolation bracket. The duo won a three-set match over Hannah Couch and Alisia Silverthorn (Saint Mary's) to claim the consolation crown.

Notables
- Ava Anderson finished in the top three in an AVCA bid event for the second straight season. Last year, the senior won the Spokane AVCA Qualifier with partner Addison Wolden to earn the Broncos a second bid to the AVCA National Pairs Championship.
- Boise State finished, 7-5 against Oregon, 6-5 against Washington and 1-2 against Saint Mary's. There were three instances of Bronco pairs competing against each other and three unreported scores.
- Three Bronco pairs ended the event with winning records: Allyson Alden/Elli Wolthuis (3-1), Avery Allen/Ava Anderson (3-1) and Nora Hayd/Summer McCann (3-1).

What's Next
Boise State will have a few weekends off before its next competition. The Broncos will travel to Huntington Beach, Calif., for the Surf City Collegiate Challenge, which will begin on Oct. 24.
