Broncos Dominate Second Half in Victory

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Tatum Thompson and Dani Bayes combined for 31 points to lead Boise State to a 65-45 victory over North Dakota in the Paradise Jam at Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of the University of the Virgin Islands, Thursday.

Thompson knocked down a 3-pointer on each of Boise State's first two possessions and combined with Bayes for 11 points in the first quarter as the Broncos (6-1) led 17-16.

After North Dakota (1-6) took its only lead at 18-17, Boise State went on a 13-3 run to surge in front 30-21. Thompson and Natalie Pasco each had four points during the spurt and Kenna Garza capped the run with her first 3-pointer of the season. Thompson led all scorers with 10 points in the first half and the Broncos held a 34-30 advantage into the break.

Boise State scored the first-eight points of the second half, six by Libby Hutton, to open a 42-30 lead. The Broncos did not allow a field goal until the 3:06 mark of the period and took a 49-40 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Broncos forced five turnovers, blocked two shots and held the Fighting Hawks to 16.7 shooting from the floor while outscoring North Dakota 16-5.
