Broncos Ride Past Green Wave for Paradise Jam Harbor Division Title

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Four Boise State seniors scored in double figures and Boise State held off Tulane 81-76 at the University of the Virgin Islands, Friday.
 
With the victory, the Broncos (7-1) captured the inaugural Harbor Division of the prestigious Paradise Jam.
 
Dani Bayes led Boise State with 20 points and was named all-tournament. Tatum Thompson added 19 points and was named tournament MVP. Natalie Pasco and Mya Hansen also reached double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
 
The Broncos trailed 14-9 before outscoring the Green Wave (3-4) 10-2 over the final 5:03 of the first quarter to take a 19-16 lead. The Boise State bench contributed six points during the run, including four by Mason Borcherding.
 
Boise State scored the first-seven points of the second quarter to extend its run to 17-2 and its lead to 26-16. The Broncos outscored the Green Wave 17-7 in the period, led by Thompson's seven points, and led 36-23 at intermission.
 
In the third quarter, the teams combined for 52 points. The Broncos shot 52.9% from the field and knocked down five 3-pointers. Boise State led 65-46, its biggest lead in the game, heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Tulane used a 7-0 run to close within 70-60 at the 4:17 mark, but Bayes found Thompson for a conventional 3-point play to push the advantage back to 13.
 
The lead remained in double figures until Tulane hit back-to-back 3-pointers to close the gap to 77-73 with just under a minute remaining. Boise State the closed out the game by converting 4-of-6 free throw attempts.
