Boise State Takes Victory in Thriller over California Baptist

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State (8-1) edged California Baptist (6-3) 82-80 in a thriller at ExtraMile Arena.
Dani Bayes and Tatum Thompson powered the Broncos as the team leaders in points with 20 and 18, respectively.
Boise State came out strong, posting a season-high first-quarter total to take a 24-19 lead. California Baptist's Cece Legaspi opened the game with a 3-pointer, but Natalie Pasco quickly answered with a triple of her own off a Lancer turnover. Pasco and Thompson led the Broncos early with nine and six points, respectively.
At halftime, the Lancers had trimmed the margin to 37-34. The Broncos dominated statistically through two quarters, recording 10 assists, six steals, two blocks and 18 rebounds, leading Cal Baptist in each category. Lancer guard Khloe Lemon kept her team close to Boise State with 16 first-half points. Freshman Izzie Harms also buried her first-career 3-pointer in the second quarter.
Boise State opened the third on a 10-0 run, holding the Lancers scoreless for more than two and a half minutes. Pasco knocked down her fourth 3-pointer of the game, matching her season high. Cal Baptist responded with a 10-0 run of its own to close the quarter and pull within 58-55.
The fourth quarter saw key contributions from Mya Hansen, who scored eight points. The Broncos capitalized with a 7-0 run as the Lancers endured another scoring drought of more than three minutes.
Cal Baptist attempted a comeback with three 3-pointers on consecutive Lancer possessions, but the late surge wasn't enough. By the final buzzer, five Lancer players had fouled out and Boise State held on for the 82-80 victory.
