Broncos Eliminated in MW Championship Final

BOISE, Idaho – Utah State captured the Mountain West Women's Soccer Championship over Boise State at Boas Soccer Complex, Saturday night.

After the Broncos (10-3-8) and Aggies (10-6-6) battled to a 2-2 tie through regulation and two overtime periods, Utah State advanced 4-2 in penalty kicks.

All of the scoring came after halftime. Utah State got on the board in the 49th minute and added a penalty kick goal in the 64th minute.

In the 75th minute, Boise State won a replay challenge and a handball in the box was called against the Aggies. Olivia Collins converted the penalty kick for her first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Just over five minutes later, Kayla Soderstrom corralled a loose ball in the box and netted the equalizer for her third goal of the year.

In penalty kicks, the Aggies converted each of their four opportunities while the Broncos were denied twice by goalkeeper Taylor Rath, who came off the bench for penalty kicks.
