Strong Second Half Lifts Broncos

BOISE, Idaho – Natalie Pasco scored a game-high 22 points and Boise State defeated San Francisco 83-68, Sunday afternoon at ExtraMile Arena.

The Broncos (2-0) never trailed in the game and led by as many as 18 points while defeating the Dons (1-1) for the second-straight season.

Boise State led 18-12 after the first quarter behind 10 points from Pasco. The second quarter featured runs by both sides with the Broncos holding a 36-33 advantage at intermission.

San Francisco scored the first-five points of the second quarter to cut the Broncos' lead to one, but Boise State responded with a 7-1 spurt. After Tatum Thompson converted a pair of free throws, Mya Hansen knocked down a jumper and Pasco drilled a 3-pointer for a 25-18 lead.

The Dons counterpunched with a 10-3 run to knot the game 28-28, the only tie of the afternoon. Boise State responded with an 8-3 run, capped by back-to-back baskets from Libby Hutton.

Boise State seized control with a 13-2 run in the third quarter to take a commanding 49-37 lead. Thompson sparked the run with seven of her 15 points. The Broncos led 57-51 heading to the final stanza.

Dani Bayes scored 11 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter and finished one shy of her career high.
