Championship Week Arrives as Boise State Pursues Three Mountain West Titles
Championship Week is here, and Boise State Esports has three Mountain West titles on the line as the Broncos send their top rosters into postseason play in Rocket League, College Football 26, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Rocket League
Boise State's Rocket League squad enters the Mountain West Championship with as much momentum as any program in the conference. The Broncos completed a flawless regular season, sweeping opponents across the board as they rolled through Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, and more. Their dominant stretch also included handing Grand Canyon University its first-ever conference loss, a result that set the tone for Boise State's undefeated campaign.
Now, the stage is set for a high-stakes rematch. Boise State and Grand Canyon open the Rocket League semifinals in what is expected to be the marquee showdown of the bracket. On the opposite side, San Diego State and San Jose State will battle for the second spot in the day's championship match.
Despite an unbeaten record and decisive wins across the season, the Broncos have remained grounded. Team captain Emiliano "Durtho" Flores emphasized the importance of respecting every opponent on the postseason stage:"As soon as you start disrespecting your opponent, that's when you lose sight of being able to win. Respecting your opponent and understanding that they're giving 110% means you've got to come back with 120%."
Durtho's mindset reflects the identity that has carried Boise State through the regular season — confident, composed, and committed to preparation.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
What may be the program's most remarkable story this fall, Boise State's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team has transformed from a winless roster last season into a legitimate Mountain West contender. Their growth has been visible week after week — improved discipline, cleaner advantage states, and a deeper understanding of team roles — culminating in a statement victory over Hawai'i to punch their ticket to the championship match.
Now, the Broncos stand across from San Jose State, the conference's most established Smash program, in a finals showdown that would have seemed unthinkable just one year ago.
For Mada, the team's emotional anchor and one of its most impactful voices, a championship would carry extraordinary meaning:"I think it would be such a great culmination of all our work this semester. To go from our performance last season to winning the finals would be such a turn-around, and a great way to punctuate all the improvements we've made as players and as a team."
The Broncos enter the championship not just as underdogs, but as proof of what development, buy-in, and resilience can build over a single semester.
College Football 26
Boise State enters Championship Week in College Football 26 with a perfect conference record — and that lone win carries real weight. The Broncos opened the season against San Jose State in a matchup that functioned as both a tone-setter and a measuring stick, and they delivered. Boise State controlled the game from start to finish, pulling away late and leaving no doubt about their top-seed status heading into the title match.
With a streamlined season format this fall, every possession mattered, and the Broncos made the most of their opportunity. They now arrive at Championship Week rested, confident, and holding the league's No. 1 seed for the second straight year.
