BOISE, Idaho – A sellout crowd packed into the Boise State Esports Arena on Tuesday night to watch the Broncos defeat Grand Canyon and San Diego State in consecutive games to claim their fifth straight Mountain West Championship in a row.
The largest crowd in Boise State Esports history watched Emiliano Flores, Preston Ferrante, and Gabriel Reynolds take down the 'Lopes in five games, winning 4-1. The match marked the final appearance for senior Gabriel Reynolds, who has been with the Broncos for five years. Granted his fifth year of eligibility, Reylonds finished his illustrious career with five Mountain West Championships, the most of any esports athlete in the history of the conference.
As soon as the semifinal wrapped up, the Broncos turned around and prepared to face the Aztecs of San Diego State. The number one seed in the tournament, SDSU was the only loss the Broncos took this year in Mountain West play. Cade Hall subbed in for Reynolds, and the Broncos took down SDSU 4-1, including two thrilling overtime victories. Flores netted the winning goal in overtime of game five to clinch the series.
The Boise State Esports team will finish it's fall season tonight, with conference championship games in Smash Bros. and College Football 26. Both games are available on the Mountain West network, with College Football 26 starting at 5 PM and Smash to follow.
