Makenzie Butt Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second-straight week, Boise State softball received the top freshman honor from the Mountain West.

Makenzie Butt was named MW Freshman of the Week after helping the Broncos (12-3) to a 5-0 record at the Lyman Classic in St. George, Utah.

Butt, a first baseman from Garden Grove, California, batted .400 (6-for-15) with four home runs, 12 RBI and eight runs. She added six walks for a .571 on-base percentage.

Against San Diego, Feb. 21, she homered twice and drove in five. It was her second, two-home run performance and came in her 11th-career game.

Last week, shortstop Chloe Hughes was the MW Freshman of the Week.
