Boise State Loses to Washington

POCATELLO, Idaho – Boise State closed out the Black and Orange Classic with a 5-2 loss to Washington, Monday.
 
Both teams were receiving votes in the current NFCA/GoRout Top 25 poll. Boise State (19-6) saw its four-game winning streak snapped while Washington (20-7) extended its winning streak to 14.
 
The Huskies scored in the bottom of the second, but the Broncos answered in top of the third.
 
With one out, Makenzie Butt walked and Sydney Groves singled. With two outs, both runners came home to score on a double to the left-center field gap by Megan Lake and the Broncos led 2-1.
 
The Huskies tallied twice in the third against Brook Thompson (6-1) added a run in the fourth and another in the sixth off reliever Olivia Bauer.
 
The Broncos open Mountain West play Friday at Fresno State. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT/7 p.m. MT
 
NOTES
*Sophia Knight singled in the first to extend her hitting streak to 27 and her on-base streak to 39, both school records.
*Mykenzie Hanna has reached base in 28-consecutive games.
*Megan Lake recorded her seventh multi-RBI game this season.
