SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Boise State women's tennis team dropped its third consecutive match, losing 4-2 to No. 44 San Diego State, Sunday afternoon.

The Broncos (10-5, 1-3 MW) came out strong in doubles, winning its first doubles point in conference play this season. Paula Schaefer and Bhakti Shah gave the Broncos an early advantage, defeating SDSU's Gloria Alogo and Vesa Gjinaj 6-3 before the Aztecs won at No. 2. The deciding match moved to court one, where Maya Dutta and Zdena Safarova edged out Liisa Varul and Jo-Yee Chan 7-6(5), securing a 1-0 lead for the Broncos.

The Aztecs (9-6, 2-1 MW) responded in singles, quickly earning victories on courts two, six and three to take the lead. Ariadna Briones Ginesta brought Boise State back within one when she earned a 6-2, 6-3 win on court five, but the Aztecs clinched the 4-2 team win with a three-set victory on court four.

Notables

Maya Dutta and Zdena Safarova moved to 9-2 in doubles this spring and 18-6 overall.
In their first season together, Dutta and Safarova are three wins (21) shy from breaking into the top 20 for most career doubles victories.
Paula Schaefer and Bhakti Shah earned their seventh win as a duo this spring.
