BOISE, Idaho – Boise State snapped No. 55 Nevada's 13-match winning streak and handed the Wolf Pack their first conference loss in a 4-0 sweep Sunday afternoon at Appleton Tennis Center.
Nevada took the first doubles match on court two before Boise State's top pair, Maya Dutta and Zdena Safarova, evened the match 1-1 with a 6-2 victory over Marlene Foerster and Silvia Maria Costache. Six minutes later, Paula Schaefer and Bhakti Shah clinched the overall doubles point with a 6-4 win at the No. 3 position.
The Broncos (11-5, 2-3 MW) gave the Wolf Pack (13-2, 4-1 MW) no time to respond, quickly extending their lead to 2-0 when Dutta, a four-time Mountain West Freshman of the Week, won 6-2, 6-1 on court two. Safarova followed with a 6-1, 7-5 win from the top spot, and Schaefer secured the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Costache on court four.
