BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Head Volleyball Coach Shawn Garus announced Monday afternoon the addition of two transfers for the 2025 season. Joining the program are Kailyn Jager from UC Riverside and Jazi Smith from Montana Western, both of whom have one year of eligibility remaining.
Â
Jager is a 6-foot outside hitter from UC Riverside. In her lone season with the Highlanders, she played in 116 sets in 2024, recording 191 points on 148 kills, 32 service aces, one block solo, and 20 block assists as a junior.
Â
As a sophomore at San Diego Mesa College (JC), Jager was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American. In 2023, she tallied 478 kills (4.93 kps) and hit .302. The native of Encinitas, California, also had 51 service aces, 15 block solos, and 21 block assists for 554.5 points, in addition to 285 digs.
Â
"Kailyn is a player I've known for some time, and I am excited to add her as a senior transfer," Garus said. "She's been an impact player and leader for her previous teams, and that's what we need. I can't wait to get her into the gym."
Â
Smith is a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Montana Western where she played in 113 matches and 422 sets. The native of Mossyrock, Washington, was an AVCA NAIA All-American Second Team honoree in 2024 and an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention in 2023. In addition, she was a three-time All-Frontier Conference First Team honoree. Last fall, Smith set the UMW single-match record for kills with 31 and the all-time career kills mark with 1,164.
Â
"Jazi has had an outstanding career at Montana Western," said Garus. "She has continued to improve each year and led her team to the best ever season as a senior. I am excited to have her experience on our team next Fall as she pursues her Master's degree."Â
Â
Overall, she recorded 1,164 kills, 64 assists, 70 service aces, 1,350 digs, 14 block solos, 129 block assists, and 1,312.5 points in her career with the Bulldogs.Â
