Boise State Completes Reverse Sweep Over New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Boise State women's tennis team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to secure a 4-3 victory over New Mexico Friday afternoon in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Broncos (14-5, 5-3 MW) dropped the doubles point after the Lobos picked up wins on court one and three. Paula Schaefer and Bhakti Shah held a 4-3 lead at the No. 2 position when play was halted.

The Lobos (8-13, 2-6 MW) stretched their lead to three early in singles, picking up straight-set victories on court six and two. Schaefer gave Boise State a spark at the No. 4 spot, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to put the Broncos on the board. Shortly after, Shah added a second victory on court three, topping Maria Sodre 6-4, 7-6(4).

With the Broncos trailing 3-2, all eyes turned to courts one and five. After dropping her first set, Zdena Safarova battled back to defeat New Mexico's Maud Vandeputte 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at the top spot. Ariadna Briones Ginesta then delivered the clinching point at the No. 5 position with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win.
