Broncos Defeat Falcons for Fifth Straight Conference Win

USAFA, Colo. – Paula Schaefer earned a three-set victory on court four to clinch a 4-3 comeback win for the Boise State women's tennis team Sunday afternoon. The win marks the Broncos' fifth-straight conference victory, their longest streak since joining the Mountain West.

For the second consecutive match, the Broncos (15-5, 6-3 MW) fell behind early, losing doubles matches on courts two and one. Boise State led 5-3 at the No. 3 spot, but the point was clinched before the match concluded.

Zdena Safarova tied the match at 1-1 when she earned the first singles victory, defeating Alexis Odom 6-2, 6-2. Air Force (9-13, 3-6 MW) responded, extending its lead to 3-1 after wins on courts two and five. Ariadna Briones Ginesta earned the Broncos a second point with a straight-set victory over Shivaani Selvan, and Bhakti Shah tied the match at three all when she defeated Nadia Kojonroj 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

The deciding point came down to court four, where Schaefer battled with the Falcons' Maya Michalski on her way to a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win—clinching the Broncos' fifth consecutive Mountain West victory.
