WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State will face No. 22 Baylor in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship on Friday, May 2, at 9 a.m. MT in Austin, Texas. The winner will advance to face either No. 14 Texas or Grand Canyon.
SCOUTING THE BEARS: The Bears (20-5, 10-3 Big 12) enter the match after having a four-match winning streak snapped in the semifinal round of the Big 12 Conference tournament. Baylor is one of seven Big 12 teams who will compete in the tournament. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
BRONCOS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: Boise State (19-5, 7-3 Mountain West) is making its eighth overall NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2010. That year, the Broncos defeated Iowa 4-1 in the first round before falling to Notre Dame 4-0 in the second.
MOUNTAIN WEST CHAMPS: The Broncos earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning its first conference tournament championship since 2010. The team defeated Fresno State, San Diego State and UNLV en route to the MW title.
STAYING HOT: Boise State closed out the regular season with six straight conference dual wins and added three more during the MW Tournament.
CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK: Zdena Safarova's 91.2% win rate (31-3) across the fall and spring seasons is the highest single-season win percentage in program history, surpassing Tiffany Coll's 90% mark set in 2006. Maya Dutta's 15 wins at the No. 2 singles position are tied for third most in program history, while Bhakti Shah's 10 wins at the No. 3 position are tied for 10th most.
MW AWARDS: Dutta was named MW Freshman of the Year, becoming just the second Bronco in program history to earn the honor. She also earned all-conference recognition in both singles and doubles. Safarova received all-conference honors in both singles and doubles as well. Dutta and Safarova became the first individual Broncos to earn both all-conference singles and doubles in the same season since Joana Baptista in 2021.
HOME DOMINANCE: Boise State finished the regular season undefeated at home, winning all 13 duals, tying the program record for second-most home wins in a season.
