Bronco Volleyball Earns AVCA National Academic Team Honor

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State's volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its success in the classroom over the 2024-25 academic year. For the seventh-consecutive year, the Broncos have been named an AVCA Academic Team Award winner.
"I am pleased to see our team recognized for success in the classroom," said head coach Shawn Garus. "Our student-athletes are doing a great job utilizing the resources and prioritizing academic success."
The Broncos achieved a team GPA of 3.47 during the 2024-25 academic year.
Other academic honors this past year include three Broncos being named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team: Pagie Bartsch, Elle Cotton, and Kiersten Van Kirk. In addition, 12 members of the team were named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team: Bartsch, Kayleigh Carpenter, Cotton, Lilli Etter, Annie Kaminski, Anabel Kotzakov, Bella McGirr, Bre Mitchell, Bridey O'Connor, Kiki Remensperger, Layla Smith and Kiersten Van Kirk.
The AVCA Team Academic Award is given on an annual basis to programs based on the team's cumulative grade point average (GPA) for a single year. This is the seventh-straight year and the eighth time in the last nine that the Broncos have earned this accolade.
 The AVCA Team Academic Award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
