Boise State men’s basketball radio analyst earns honor for the first time in his career

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's basketball radio color analyst Abe Jackson has been named the 2025 Idaho Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.

Voted on annually by NSMA members, a sportscaster and sportswriter from each state is selected. Joining Shaun Goodwin, who was voted as Idaho's Sportswriter of the Year, Jackson will be honored this summer (June 28-29), in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the yearly banquet.

"It's an absolute honor to have been voted the 2025 Idaho Sportscaster of the Year," Jackson said. "Calling games with Bob Behler for the last 18 years has been an immense joy. I'm incredibly thankful for those who have tuned in over the years and made us part of their game day routine."

Garnering the distinction for the first time in his broadcasting career, Jackson joins his partner, Bob Behler, who is a six-time Sportscaster of the Year recipient. The duo began working together in 2008 and has successfully called over 500 Boise State men's basketball games on KBOI and the Bronco Radio Network.

"18 years ago, when we were preparing for our first season, we did practice broadcasts using video tapes," said Behler. "I knew that Abe would be a great analyst because he quickly understood how to effectively communicate between plays. He's progressed to where he can do a game by himself, which many analysts across the country can't do. I love having Abe as my broadcast partner, and I am so happy that he's being recognized by the NSMA for his outstanding work."

Jackson's contributions and presence at Boise State predates his time in front of a microphone. Before his on-air work, he was a three-time All-Conference player for the Broncos from 1998-2002.

Starting 79-of-106 games played in blue and orange, Jackson averaged 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists. In program history, Jackson ranks fourth in three-point field goals (253), sixth in field goals made (544) and seventh in total points (1,660).
