1/30/2026 10:05:00 PM | Men's Basketball

PHOENIX — Boise State had its four-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, losing to Grand Canyon, 86-69, inside Global Credit Union Arena.

The Broncos (13-9, 5-6 Mountain West) were led by Javan Buchanan, who scored a team-high 14 points and added six rebounds and two assists. Dominic Parolin shot 5-for-6 off the bench and had 11 points in the contest, while Dylan Andrews pitched in with 10 points and three assists.

Jaden Henley led the way for Grand Canyon (14-7, 7-3 Mountain West) with a game-high 20 points, five rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Three Lopes scored 16 points each, and Makaih Williams added 10 points, six boards, four assists and one steal.

In a raucous environment, Boise State jumped out to an early 8-5 lead, with Andrew Meadow tallying five of those points. Making three field goals apiece in the opening four-plus minutes, the game was knotted at eight upon reaching the first media timeout.

Grand Canyon made seven of its first eight shots at the outset, but it was Boise State who jumped out to a five-point lead. Knocking down four three-pointers in seven minutes, the Broncos led, 20-15, with 12:43 remaining on the clock in the first half.

Responding to Boise State's efficient offensive start, the Lopes turned their five-point deficit into a five-point lead on the strength of a 16-6 run. Leading for over 10 minutes in the period, Grand Canyon eventually went up by seven, the largest lead for either team in the initial half.

Closing the 20-minute session strong, the Broncos scored the final five points before the intermission. Fielder netted a pair of free throws, and before the buzzer sounded with zeroes on the clock, Buchanan swished his first long ball attempt of the evening.

With offense aplenty, Boise State shot 52 percent in the frame, while Grand Canyon made a blistering 64 percent of its field goal attempts. Counting the final three before the expiration of the game clock, the Broncos cut their deficit to one possession heading into halftime.

Boise State tallied the first point of the second half, but missed its first six shots from the field. The Lopes took advantage and rattled off six-straight points to forge ahead by nine.

Eventually pushing its lead to double figures, Grand Canyon led by as many as 18. Conversely, the Broncos made just six field goals in the final 20 minutes.

After an efficient first half, Boise State was outscored by 15 in the second period. For the game, the Broncos shot just 39 percent from the floor.
