Boise State Ties Season-High, Rallies for Senior Night Victory

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State gymnastics equaled its season-high score of 196.275 to earn a comeback victory over Southern Utah (195.850) on Senior Night in ExtraMile Arena. Five Broncos earned a share of an event title, with sophomore Noelle Ball and junior Mahleea Werline splitting the bars crown at 9.900 and senior Sydney Kho, sophomore Kristina Shchennikova and freshman Sydnie Whipple taking the beam title with a 9.850.
 
The Broncos opened with a 48.775 on vault, led by freshman Isabella Delarosa, who posted a career-high 9.825 to finish second. Ball backed her with a 9.775, tying for fourth, while sophomore Bridget Kemp, senior Sydney Kho and freshman Miraya Nero all tallied a 9.725.
 
In the second rotation, Boise State recorded a 49.150 on bars, marking its fourth-straight meet earning a season-best in the event. Ball and Werline tied for the individual crown, both posting a career-best 9.900. Sophomore Kristina Shchennikova tied for third with a 9.875, her fourth performance of 9.800 or better in the last five meets.
 
The Broncos added another strong score on beam, tallying a 49.100. Kho, Shchennikova and Whipple tied for the event title, each scoring 9.850. Nero notched a 9.825 and senior Brantley Lucas recorded a 9.725 to round out the rotation.
 
Trailing by 0.375 entering the final event, Boise State rallied for the victory with an elite floor rotation, recording a 49.250. Shchennikova (9.900) and Delaney Reeves (9.875) tallied career-best routines while Nero equaled her career-high of 9.850. Fifth year Blake Pascal finished the meet with a 9.850, her 15th-career routine of 9.850 or higher.
 
Top Broncos
  • Kristina Shchennikova earned a share of the beam title with a 9.850 while finishing second on floor with a career-high 9.900. She also tied for third on bars with a 9.875.
