Fielder is the sixth Bronco to win the award multiple times in the same season
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State forward Drew Fielder was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Winning Mountain West Player of the Week for the second time this season, Fielder is the sixth Bronco—and third forward—to garner the distinction multiple times in the same season. He joins Derrick Marks (2012-13; '14-15), James Webb III (2015-16), Chandler Hutchison (2017-18), Derrick Alston (2020-21) and Tyson Degenhart (2024-25) as the only players to accomplish the feat.
Posting a 2-0 record in games played from March 2-8, Fielder led all players in scoring in both contests. He averaged 28.0 points and 7.5 rebounds, and shot 68 percent (17-25 FGs) from the field, 44.4 (4-9 3FGs) from three and 81.8 (18-22 FTs) at the charity stripe.
The only player in the country to total at least 50 points and 15 rebounds on 68 percent shooting or higher, Fielder played a pivotal role in the Broncos defeating San Diego State and Colorado State in the final two games of the regular season. He registered career highs in points (33) and made free throws (16) against the Aztecs on March 3, and tallied his 10th 20-point game of the season at Colorado State on March 7.
Starting 29-of-31 games in his first season at Boise State, Fielder is averaging 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists, while shooting 55 percent from the floor. Leading the Mountain West in field goal percentage among qualifiers, Fielder is the only player in the conference with averages of at least 14 points, five rebounds and one assist while shooting 55 percent or better.
Boise State heads to Las Vegas tomorrow evening for the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship. In the opening round on Wednesday, the Broncos will play San Jose State at 9:30 p.m. MT on the Mountain West Network and KBOI 670 AM.
