CHAMPIONS: Broncos dominate PEC Valorant Championship

Las Vegas, Nevada — Boise State Valorant is heading back home with suitcases just a touch heavier. A dominant win over Ohio State on Sunday afternoon in the national championship secures the Broncos their seventh title in program history, and the first in Valorant. 

Seniors Wyatt Morrison and Peter Mittelbrun, along with Marshall Hainer, Griffin Applegate, Kosmos Sutter, and Austin Julian headed into national championship tournament having only lost once in PEC play all year, and that trend continued through the double-elimination tournament at HyperX Arena. There was no question about the Bronco's prep for the match on Sunday, as Boise State came out firing on all cylinders. a near perfect first half of map one saw the Broncos up 10-2. Five rounds later, and the Broncos secured the map win, 13-4. 

The story was more of the same in map two, with a dominant first half clearing the path for the Broncos to take home the championship over the Buckeyes. Hainer was named series MVP, and coach Kelsey Moser was named Valorant coach of the year. 

"Only we will know what this team fought through to make it here" said coach Doc Haskell. "Today we continued the standard: you come to Boise State to win championships."

The match concludes a historic PEC season for Boise State Esports, and sets the stage for an epic title defense next year, with four of the six roster players returning to the program.The Broncos will be looking to create history: the first program to ever defend the PEC Valorant title.
