Championship Sunday: Broncos in the Mix For Three National Championships

Las Vegas, Nevada — Boise State Esports is headed to three separate national championship games on Sunday, after two days of intense competition. The only team to qualify for three separate matches, the Broncos will be attempting to defend their titles in Overwatch and Rocket League, while also playing for a first-time championship in Valorant.
Rocket League will get things started on Sunday, taking on Baylor at 10 AM. The Broncos didn't start Rocket League play until Saturday, and played four matches en route to the championship, capped off by an electric five game thriller vs. Syracuse to seal their spot in Sunday's final. They will take on Baylor, the No. 1 seed, in the final. Boise State is the only PEC team to beat the Bears this year, knocking them off in the group stage of the Hawaii Invitational.
Overwatch qualified on Friday after dispatching Nebraska, Utah and Syracuse in short fashion. The senior-laden team is hot off the heals of a Mountain West championship vs. Oregon State, and is primed to go back-to-back. Utah will be the opponent in their way, after they worked their way through the lower bracket. The Broncos and Utes split their season series this year, with Boise State winning 3-1 in the first matchup, and Utah snagging the second matchup, 3-2.
Valorant closes the day off for Boise State, where the Broncos will have to wait to find out their opponent. Michigan State and Ohio State square off earlier on Sunday morning, and the winner will advance to face the Broncos. Boise State is 2-0 against the Spartains this year and 1-1 vs. the Buckeyes. The lone loss the Broncos have this season came to Ohio State in November, but Boise State swept Ohio State in the return game in the spring.
