Boise State’s four all-conference singles selections are the most among the 16 honorees this season.
LAS VEGAS – Boise State women's tennis players Allison Isaacs and Masa Viriant earned All-Mountain West singles honors, while Tereza Polakova and Zdena Safarova were named to both the All-MW singles and doubles teams, the conference announced Tuesday night.
Â
Boise State's four all-conference singles selections are the most among the 16 honorees this season. The Broncos' four total individual awards are their most since 2011. Boise State has now had multiple players earn both singles and doubles honors in consecutive seasons for the first time since joining the MW.
Â
Polakova and Safarova began their doubles partnership in the team's fourth match of the spring. The Czech Republic natives combined for a 12-4 record, all at the No. 1 position. The duo is two wins shy of entering the program's record book for single-season victories at No. 1 doubles (14).
Â
In singles, Safarova is 13-4, all at the No. 1 spot. The junior, in her second season with the Broncos, enters the conference tournament having won 11 of her last 12 matches. The singles and doubles honors mark her second consecutive season earning both. She is the second Boise State player to accomplish that feat in the MW, joining Lilian Poling (2019-20).
Â
Polakova, a transfer from Kansas State, has made an immediate impact in her first season at Boise State. The junior is 11-5 in singles, with one win at No. 1 and the remainder at No. 2. She is the eighth Bronco to earn both singles and doubles honors in the same season since Boise State joined the MW in 2011-12.
Â
Isaacs, also in her first season with Boise State, is 18-2 in singles, including a 17-1 mark at the No. 4 position. Her 17 wins at No. 4 are the most in program history in a single season at that spot, while her 18 total victories rank 10th in single-season dual matches. Isaacs enters the MW tournament on a 16-match winning streak and has not lost since Jan. 30.
Â
Viriant, a sophomore from Kamnik, Slovenia, is 13-3 at the No. 3 position this season. The honor is the first of her career after moving up from No. 6 as a freshman. She has won three of her last four singles matches.
