Broncos Drop Pool Play Duals on Opening Day of Big 12 Championship

TUCSON, Ariz. – Boise State lost both its pool play duals on the opening day of the Big 12 Beach Volleyball Championship presented by Allstate.
The fifth-ranked Broncos (19-15) fell to top-seeded Florida State and No. 4 South Carolina on Thursday, both by a 4-1 margin. Following the pool play results, Boise State will play in the opening round of the single-elimination bracket at 11:15 a.m. MT on Friday, April 24. The opponent will be determined following the completion of pool play on Thursday.
In the opening dual of the two-day event, Florida State jumped out to an early start by claiming three consecutive victories from courts five, four and one. The Broncos secured their lone victory in the No. 3 match, where Serena van der Made and Keira Demirjian won 22-20, 21-15. The Seminoles won a tight contest from the No. 2 position to secure the 4-1 win.
In the final dual of the Broncos' day, South Carolina also jumped out to an early advantage. The Gamecocks gathered wins from courts two, four and five in straight sets to secure the dual's first three points. South Carolina got another point following a three-set win from the No. 3 position. Boise State's lone point came from the top flight, with Allyson Alden and Addison Wolden winning 18-21, 21-15, 15-10.
