SAN DIEGO – Kate Penberthy belted a three-run home run in the first inning and Boise State held on to beat San Diego State 5-4, Friday night.

The blast for Penberthy was her 12th of the year, tied with Mya Flindt for the team lead.

The Broncos (21-29, 7-13 Mountain West) manufactured a run in the fourth with a sacrifice fly by Sophia Romero plating a run. Hollie Farmer added an RBI-double in the sixth for a 5-0 advantage.

Julianne Rose (7-10) blanked the Aztecs (22-23, 7-13) on one hit over 4 1/3 innings to pick up the victory.
