Guard joins Boise State after three seasons at North Dakota State
BOISE, Idaho — Boise State has agreed to terms and signed guard Damari Wheeler-Thomas, it was announced on Monday.
​Wheeler-Thomas (6-0, 185 pounds) joins the Broncos after playing three collegiate seasons (2022-24, '25-26) at North Dakota State. In his time with the Bison, Wheeler-Thomas started 92-of-96 games played and averaged 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 42.1 percent from the field.
Last season, Wheeler-Thomas started all 32 games played and guided North Dakota State to a 27-8 record and its highest single-season win total in program history. Named All-Summit League Second Team, Wheeler-Thomas averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists during the 2025-26 campaign.
As a team, the Bison won the Summit League's regular season and conference tournament, with Wheeler-Thomas named Most Valuable Player in the postseason. Earning an auto bid into the 2026 NCAA Tournament, North Dakota State played Michigan State in the Round of 64, where Wheeler-Thomas scored 16 points against the Spartans.
A native of Elgin, Ill., Wheeler-Thomas attended Larkin HS and led the team to an unbeaten conference title as a senior in 2021-22. He garnered IBCA all-state second team honors in Class 4A and was named to the Chicago Sun-Times 4A all-state second team.
