BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Head Softball Coach Andrew Rich announced, Wednesday, two former Broncos have joined his staff.

Kelsey Broadus (2017-20) and Karlee Johnson (2017-21) will serve as the associate head coach and an assistant coach, respectively. The duo were teammates on Boise State teams that made back-to-back regional appearances (2018-19) in the NCAA Championship.

Both Broadus (2023-26) and Johnson (2024-26) were on Rich's staff at Idaho State and helped the Bengals advance to the Eugene Regional in the 2026 NCAA Championship, Idaho State's first postseason appearance in school history.

"I am very excited to bring Kelsey and Karlee with me to Boise State (from Idaho State)," Rich said. "They have been instrumental in the success we had over the past few years, and as former Broncos themselves, they know what it takes to be successful here."

Broadus holds nearly 30 spots on Boise State's top 10 single-season and career lists. She set Bronco freshman records in 2017 with a 2.55 ERA and five saves. Her save total was ninth nationally.

As a sophomore she was the Mountain West Pitcher of the Year and a second-team all-region selection. That season, she held opponents to a .194 batting average against, a Boise State single-season record.

Johnson racked up 302-career assists, fifth all-time at Boise State, primarily as a middle infielder. She was an All-MW honoree in 2020 when she batted .333 in a season cut short due to COVID-19.

Broadus will serve as the Broncos' pitching coach and work with alumni. Johnson will contribute to hitting, defense, opponents scouting and recruiting.

Boise State is scheduled to join the Pac-12, July 1 and will compete against Colorado State, Fresno State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State on the diamond.
