Broncos Tally First Pac-12 Win Against Gonzaga

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball secured its first Pac-12 win against Gonzaga 3-1 on Thursday night in ExtraMile Arena.
The Broncos (9-5, 1-0) kicked off the first set with three points in a row off of a kill and two of the Bulldogs' (5-8, 0-1) attack errors. Gonzaga fought back with a kill, and Sydney Dreves responded by putting it away. Boise State kept its pace with a dominant offense to lead 16-10. The Bulldogs rallied back by scoring two back-to-back kills followed by a service ace to lead 24-23. The Broncos attempted to push back but couldn't turn the tide. Gonzaga took set one 26-24.
Kendall Hastings set the pace in set one with a kill and an assist from Tehya Maeva. The Blue and Orange quickly took a hold of the lead 10-5 with an explosive offense. The Bulldogs tried to chip away at Boise State's lead, but missed the chance to get on top. Azlynn Tittmann scored four kills total in set two, while Dreves added three. The Broncos secured set two 25-20.
The Blue and Orange pulled ahead in set three 3-0, but the Bulldogs tied it up at 5-5. The two teams went back and forth until Boise State went on a three-point scoring run to lead 12-9. The Blue and Orange kept its momentum for the remainder of the set. Hastings and Tittmann sealed the set three win, 25-21, with a block.
In set four, Gonzaga gained the upperhand at the jump with a lead 4-1. The two teams traded points until Hastings put up a solo block, leading the set 13-10. The Blue and Orange remained dominant at the net with five kills from Reese Weinert and three apiece for Dreves and Paedon. Weinert tallied two back-to-back kills to clinch the set 25-16 for a 3-1 win.
