2018-19 | SENIOR SEASON
OVERALL: Went 1-4 overall in fall singles matches ... posted 3-2 in fall doubles matches with two partners.
FALL HIGHLIGHTS: Defeated Ruben Montano 4-6, 6-3, 10-1 in consolation draw quarterfinals of the Wildcat Invitational (Sept. 21-23) ... put down doubles team Jan Kirchoff/Rafael Almazan (San Diego State) 7-6 with partner Simon Stenlund at Wildcat Invitational.
SPRING HIGHLIGHTS: Went 5-13 in spring singles matches and 5-13 in spring doubles matches. Singles Play – Came back from a set down against Ruadhan O’Sullivan from Gonzaga (Jan. 27) to win in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 7-6…at the No. 1 singles spot, defeated D’Aboville Alexandre from Lewis-Clark State (Feb.1) in straight sets 6-3, 6-4…picked up a conference win against Nevada’s (April 12) Jonathan Aremon 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. In doubles, Heslin and partner Luka Soskic came back from a game behind against Montana State (Jan. 25) pairing of Drew brown and Alexander Flink to win 6-4…with help from partner Simon Arca Costas, the two defeated the No. 1 duo of Ben Kirsh and Dan Foster from Whitman (Feb. 16) 6-4.
2017-18 | JUNIOR SEASON
HONORS: All-Mountain West in singles and doubles ... Academic All-Mountain West ... Mountain West Player of the Week (March 21).
OVERALL: Went 11-19 overall in singles on the year ... played in 27 matches during spring duals, went 9-11 at No. 1 singles and 9-13 overall, 3-3 in conference play ... in doubles he went 12-17 overall on the year and 11-12 during spring duals, 10-11 at No. 1 doubles while paired with Kyle Butters.
FALL HIGHLIGHTS: Played in three tournaments during the fall semester going 2-6 in singles and 1-4 in doubles ... recorded singles victories over Denver’s Eric Morris (Nov. 3) and Wisconsin’s Robert Krill (Nov. 4) at the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis ... went 1-1 in doubles with Harvey Shackleton at the ITA Mountain Regional (Oct. 18-22) in Provo, Utah, tallying a 8-6 win over Southern Utah’s duo of Jonathon Morales and Conor Tordoff.
SPRING HIGHLIGHTS: Clinched the 4-3 team victory over Santa Clara (March 17) with a three-set win at No. 1 singles over Andrew Gu 7-6 (8), 3-6, 6-2 ... clinched the Weber State (March 18) victory with a 7-6(5), 6-4 win over Stefan Cooper ... beat San Diego State’s (March 29) Arnaud Restifo 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles in a 4-1 Bronco victory ... downed UC Irvine’s (April 4) Luis Lopez 7-5, 6-4 ... clinched the 4-3 team win over Idaho State (April 8) with a three-set victory over Peter Trhac 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 ... downed Air Force’s (april 13) Patrick Sklenka 6-2, 6-3 ... defeated New Mexico’s (April 15) Bart Van Leijsen 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. Doubles Play while paired with Kyle Butters - recorded a 6-1 win over No. 20 Arizona State’s (Feb. 23) top tandem of Michael Geerts and Thomas Wright ... defeated San Diego State’s (March 29) Nicholas Mitchell and Arnaud Restifo 6-2 ... downed UNLV’s (April 1) No. 1 pair of Alexandr Cozbinov and Courtney Lock 6-4 ... put away Fresno State’s (April 6) top team of Cem Erturk and Mantas Bugailikis 6-4 ... beat Utah State’s (April 26) Jaime Barajas and Jose Carvajal 6-3 at MW Championship.
2016-17 | SOPHOMORE SEASON
HONOR: All-Mountain West in Doubles.
OVERALL: Finished season with a team-best overall mark of 19-13 in singles playing primarily at No. 2 and 3 singles during the team duals season where he went 12-10, was 7-3 in fall tournaments ... went 16-18 overall in doubles, 9-15 in spring duals and 7-3 in fall tournaments.
FALL HIGHLIGHTS: Participated in two fall tournaments ... went 4-2 at the Battle in the Bay Classic (Sept. 23-25) at San Francisco, Calif., where he reached the consolation championship match before falling in two sets ... went 3-1 in singles matches at the ITA Mountain Regional (Oct. 19-23) at Las Vegas, Nev., where he made it to the of round of 32 ... recorded a 2-1 mark to reached the quarterfinals in doubles at the Battle in the Bay while playing with Kyle Butters ... also played for the ITA Mountain Region championship with Butters going 4-1 overall before falling to the nation’s 42nd-ranked pair from Denver.
SPRING HIGHLIGHTS: Compiled a 12-10 record in team duals splitting time primarily on courts two (5-6) and three (6-4) ... went 3-1 in MW matches with wins over UNLV’s Alexandr Cozbinov (March 21) 6-4, 3-6, 7-5; Air Force’s Isaac Perez (April 9) 7-5, 6-0; and Utah State’s Samuel Serrano (April 22) 6-4, 6-2 in his lone match at No. 1 singles he defeated Idaho State’s Sebastian Edin (Feb. 11) in three sets 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 ... in doubles play went 9-15 during the spring season ... was 7-7 on court one when paired with Kyle Butters, they knocked off Princeton’s 14th-ranked tandem of Luke Gamble and Alexander Day 6-3 at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic (Feb. 25) ... also played doubles with Brian Tran (1-4), Greg Wischer (1-3 and Morgan Stone (0-1).
2015-16 | FRESHMAN SEASON
OVERALL: Competed for the University of Tennessee in Knoxville ... went 17-17 overall in singles play and 17-16 in doubles.
FALL HIGHLIGHTS: Won six singles and five doubles matches during the fall, winning five of his final seven matches ... reached the singles quarterfinals in the second flight of the SEC Fall Classic ... lost just a combined five games in his first two wins.
SPRING HIGHLIGHTS: Played No. 6 singles and No. 2 and 3 doubles for the Vols in his first college season ... went a combined 8-0 in singles and doubles his first collegiate weekend of dual match play, competing on court 5 singles and court 3 doubles with Preston Touliatos ... clinched the doubles point against Duke by winning 6-4 at No. 3 doubles with Preston Touliatos ... clinched the doubles point against Ole Miss by winning 6-3 at No. 2 double with Preston Touliatos ... won his first career SEC singles match against Vanderbilt’s Alex Ross 7-6(6), 6-2 ... picked up another SEC win against Sam Swank from South Carolina ... helped Vols to an opening-round victory over Auburn in the SEC Championships, beating Joseph Van Dooren in straight sets.
JUNIOR TENNIS
Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, where he attended Sacred Heart College (high school) and served as team captain of the school's premier tennis team from 2011 through 2014 ... youth career included winning one International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior singles and two doubles tournament titles with three runners-up finishes ... was ranked as high as third in the New Zealand ITF Junior rankings and 337 in the world ... won the New Zealand U12 national doubles championship and was runner-up at the U16 national doubles tournament ... twice represented his country as a member of the New Zealand Junior National Team ... played club ball for the Caro Bowl Tennis Team during New Zealand's premier club tennis competition ... was also named the 2014 ASB Auckland College Sport Young Sports person of the Year.
