BOISE STATE CAREER
2020-21: INDOOR- Did not compete...OUTDOOR- Debuted the 2020-21 season with a second-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the UNLV Spring Invitational Sheila Tarr-Smith Multis (March 20)...ran the second leg of the winning team in the men's 4x400m relay...earned a bronze medal finishing the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.12 at the Hayward Premiere (April 2-3)...ran the anchor leg of the men's 4x400m relay...established a personal best in the 100m at the Oregon Relays (April 23-24) with a time of 11.26...finished fifth in the 400m hurdles...earned a top-five finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.39 at the West Coast Relays (April 30)...ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay which finished third...clocked a personal-best time of 52.07 in the 400m hurdles to secure the Mountain West Championship (May 13-15)...anchored the 4x400m relay which garnered the silver medal with a time of 3:13.30...qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries (May 26-29) in the 400m hurdles running a time of 52.40 and finishing 37th.
2019-20: INDOOR- Opened the season running a personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.18 in the Jackson’s Open (Dec. 14)…part of the men’s 4x400m relay which finished second…grabbed bronze at the Bronco Invite (Jan. 18) in the 400m…part of the men’s 4x400m team which won the at the Boise State Challenge (Feb. 14-15)…snagged the bronze in the 200m…set personal bests in the 200m (22.02) and the 400m (49.02) at the Mountain West Indoor Championships (Feb. 27-29)…OUTDOOR- Season canceled due to coronavirus pandemic.
2018-19: INDOOR- Opened the season with a runner-up finish in the 60m hurdles at the Jackson’s Open, running 8.39 in the finals (Dec. 8)...reached the finals of the 60m hurdles at the Bronco Invitational, taking eighth...best mark of 8.42 came in the prelims (Jan. 12)...took sixth in the 200m with a personal best effort of 22.35 at the Ed Jacoby Invitational and Multis (Jan. 18-19)...took sixth in the 60m hurdles at the New Mexico Team Invite, matching his season best of 8.38. Also ran a leg of Boise State’s 4x400 relay (Jan. 26)...posted his fastest time in the 60m hurdles (8.23) in the prelims of the Jacksons/Nike Boise Indoor...took fourth in the finals in 8.24 while also running the anchor leg of Boise State’s victorious 4x400 relay...also made his collegiate debut in the long jump on Friday night (Feb. 1-2)...matched his personal best of 8.23 with a victory in the 60m hurdles, while also jumping 21-10.25 (6.66m) in the long jump at the Bronco Challenge (Feb. 9)...was the fastest non-qualifier in the 60m hurdles at the conference championships, running a time of 8.31...also set a new personal best in the long jump, and ran a leg of Bose State’s fourth-place 4x400 relay on the weekend (Feb. 21-23)...OUTDOOR- Boise State’s top performer in the 400m hurdles, appeared in five meets during the season...ran a personal best of 52.77 to earn All-Mountain West honors in the 400m hurdles at the conference championship...also ran a leg of Boise State’s sixth-place 4x400 team (May 8-11)...ran both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles at the Stanford Invitational (March 29-30)...personal best of the 110m hurdles came at the Sun Angel Classic, running 15.04 (April 5-6)...also appeared at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 17-19) and the Border Clash (April 26-27).
2017-18: INDOOR- Scored four points at the Mountain West Championships in the 60m hurdles, running a personal-best time of 8.30 in the final...also ran legs on Boise State's DMR and 4x400m relays the same weekend (Feb. 22-24)...took fourth in the 60m hurdles in 8.52 at the Jackson Nike Boise Indoor Invite, running the second-fastest time of the prelims in 8.43 (Feb. 2-3)...advanced to the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles at the UW Invitational (Jan. 26-27), finishing 17th overall. Also ran the 400m that weekend...finished third in his collegiate debut in the 60m hurdles in 8.42 at the Bronco Invitational (Jan. 20)...also finished seventh in the 200m in 22.53...ran 50.61 to finish fourth in the 400m at the Ed Jacoby Invitational (Jan. 12-13)...ran 49.49 to finish in second at the Jacksons Open (Dec. 9) in the 400m...also ran 22.51 for 200m that weekend...OUTDOOR- Moved to the 400m hurdles in the outdoor season and competed in four meets...ran a 55.28 at the Sun Angel Classic to take 20th place...performed well at the Bryan Clay Invitational and clocked a 54.96 in the 400m hurdles and helped the 4x400m relay team to a 3:19.23, good for 12th...ran a career-best 54.80 at the Border Clash to take third...picked up three points at the MW Championships in the 400m hurdles (55.51) and aided the 4x400m relay team (3:21.05) to three more points.
Winning a combined 14 races in the 110m and 300m hurdles his senior season at Tualatin HS, Ryan Cavinta has shown the ability to win big races...Cavinta exercised this quality at the Oregon 6A Track and Field State Championships, taking first in the 300m hurdles thanks to a career-best time of 37.85...he also took third in the 110m hurdles (15.35) and sixth in the long jump (22-2.75) to earn more points for the Timberwolves...also excelled at the 2016 state championships, recording top-10 finishes in both the 110m and 300m hurdles.
