  • Title:
Associate Head Coach / Tight Ends / Offensive Chief of Staff
The 2021 campaign is slated to be Kent Riddle’s seventh as tight ends coach and his 13th overall as a member of the Broncos’ coaching staff. He has also mentored running backs and special teams at times during his two stints in Boise.

Under Riddle’s guidance in 2020, Boise State tight ends combined for 21 percent of the Broncos’ receptions, the most in more than a decade.

Riddle’s tutelage has also produced a number of All-Mountain West selections. Tight end Jake Roh was All-Mountain West First Team in 2017 after leading Boise State with nine receiving touchdowns.

In 2016, punter Sean Wale led the conference ranked seventh nationally in punting average (45.0) while earning second team all-league honors. The average ranked second on Boise State’s single-season list and helped the Broncos rank 19th nationally in net putting (40.0). Boise State blocked three kicks, tied for 23rd nationally.

A Lou Groza Award semifinalist in 2015, Tyler Rausa was an All-Mountain First Team member after setting the Boise State single-season record with 25 field goals. His 134 points set a Mountain West record for a kicker.

In his first season back with the Broncos (2014), Riddle oversaw one of the greatest seasons in school history while coaching running backs. Jay Ajayi set single-season school records for rushing yards (1,823), rushing touchdowns (28) and all-purpose yards (2,358). Ajayi became the first player in NCAA history to accumulate more than 1,800 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving in the same season. He was named All-America by seven outlets and was All-Mountain West First Team.

Boise State’s running backs helped contribute to an offense that ranked ninth nationally in scoring (39.7 points per game), and 14th in the NCAA with 494.3 yards per game. The Broncos finished the season 12-2 with a Mountain West title and the Fiesta Bowl.

Riddle coached tight ends and special teams at Colorado (2006-10), North Texas (2011-12) and Arkansas State (2013).

North Texas punter Will Atterberry was an all-league performer in 2011 and 2012. At Colorado, Riddle coached a pair of All-Americans, kicker Mason Crosby and punter Matt DiLallo.

Riddle’s first tour with the Broncos was 2001-05. The Broncos made 73.1 percent of their field goal attempts (68-of-93) during that time, finished in the top 25 nationally each season in kickoff returns and posted top 25 rankings in punt returns each of his last four seasons.

Tyler Jones was an All-American place kicker in 2005 and one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award. Boise State produced a 1,000-yard rusher each of Riddle’s first three years, including Brock Forsey’s 1,611 yards in 2002. Forsey added a national-best 26 rushing touchdowns and was the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Riddle began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Oregon State. After two seasons with the Beavers (1993-94), he coached fullbacks at Army (1995-98). He served as the Black Knights’ recruiting coordinator and coached special teams (1999-2000).

A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Riddle earned his bachelor’s degree in hotel, restaurant and tourism management in 1992. He and his wife, Camaren, have two children, Connor and Kayleigh.
