Boise State Hall of Famer Nate Potter rejoined the Boise State coaching staff in 2022 and was promoted to offensive coordinator/tight ends coach ahead of the 2025 campaign. The 2025 season will be Potter’s eighth overall as a coach with the Broncos and 12th within the program.

Before being named the offensive coordinator in January 2025, Potter was the team’s tight ends coach and run game coordinator in 2022 and 2023 and then added the title of co-offensive coordinator for the 2024 season, working alongside offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.
The 2024 Boise State offense was one of the best in the nation, highlighted by it finishing eighth in total offense, fifth in scoring offense and eighth in rushing offense. The Broncos used their high-powered offense to win their second consecutive Mountain West title and reach the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal as the No. 3 seed.
Potter mentored a tight end group in 2024 that totaled 762 yards and seven touchdowns on 59 receptions. Matt Lauter was named All-Mountain West First Team as he had the most receptions (47) by a Boise State tight end in any of the Broncos’ FBS seasons since 1996.

Potter, who was selected to the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018, had spent the previous three seasons (2019-21) at Montana State as tight ends coach before his most recent stint at Boise State. He helped lead the Bobcats to the Football Championship Subdivision title game in 2021.

In addition to the FCS Championship Game in 2021, the Bobcats also reached the FCS Playoffs Semifinals during Potter’s debut season in 2019, finishing the season ranked No. 4.

Prior to Montana State, Potter served as the offensive line coach at the College of Idaho in 2018. During his tenure, the Yotes achieved a No. 22 ranking in the NAIA national poll.
Potter initially joined the Broncos' coaching staff in 2014 as a quality control assistant before becoming an offensive graduate assistant for three seasons (2015-17). His coaching career began following a professional stint in the NFL, where he played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2012-13. A seventh-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Potter appeared in 21 games and made six starts over two seasons.
As a player, Potter was a standout offensive tackle for Boise State from 2008-11. He earned consensus All-America honors in 2011 and was a three-time all-conference first team selection, earning All-Mountain West honors in 2011 and back-to-back All-WAC honors in 2009 and 2010. Potter was a key contributor to the Broncos' 2009 Fiesta Bowl Championship and started the final 34 games of his collegiate career.
Academically, Potter earned Academic All-America honors in 2011 and a spot on the ESPN Academic All-America Team in 2010. He graduated from Boise State in 2011 with a degree in history and later earned a master’s degree in athletic leadership in 2017.
