Madchen Ly joined the Boise State women's golf staff in June 2020.

Prior to coming to Boise, Ly spent two seasons (2018-20) serving as assistant coach at Whitman College. Over her two seasons in Walla Walla, Wash., Ly helped guide the Blues to a share of the 2018-19 Northwest Conference title with Shiyang Fan being named NWC Player of the Year. In 2019-20, the Blues captured the Logger Invitational in the program's only spring appearance before the cancellation of the rest of the campaign due to COVID-19.

Prior to beginning her coaching career, Ly turned professional after an excellent playing career at Fresno State. She went through the 2015 LPGA Qualifying School process, advancing to final stage held in Florida and also competed on the Symetra Tour. 

After two years of playing professionally, Ly decided to take her knowledge to the coaching ranks, coaching the women's program at Fresno City College in the Fall of 2017 and the men in the Spring of 2018. She also was the assistant coach at Clovis High School in California.

Ly had a stellar career at Fresno State for the Bulldogs. She was the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and as a junior was selected to compete as an individual in the 2014 NCAA West Regional Championship. She also earned academic all-conference honors her sophomore and senior years.

She graduated from Fresno State in 2015 with a degree in Kinesiology - Sports Administration.
