Bobby Dye
- Induction:
- 2020
Dye led the Boise State men’s basketball program to three NCAA Tournament appearances, three NIT berths and two regular-season Big Sky Conference titles in 12 seasons. Dye, a three-time Big Sky Coach of the Year, guided the Broncos to 213 victories, retiring as the school’s all-time wins leader. The win total currently ranks second in program history. Dye will join two of his former stars in the hall of fame - Chris Childs and Arnell Jones. Together they helped Boise State win its first outright conference championship in 1988, adding the Big Sky Tournament title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Childs returned the following season and earned a share of the regular-season crown to help Dye cap off one of the most successful three-year runs in school history with a 69-21 record with two trips to the NIT and one NCAA appearance from 1987-89. Dye added Big Sky Tournament championships in 1993 and 1994 to send Boise State to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time in school history. Childs and Jones each claimed a Big Sky Player of the Year award, while Childs went on to the longest NBA career of any Bronco alum. Dye also coached the school’s all-time leading scorer (Tanoka Beard).
