BOISE STATE SIGNS THREE TALENTED HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLERS

BOISE, Idaho Greg Randall, head wrestling coach at Boise State University, has announced the signing of Jason Chamberlain, Randy Larson and Brian Owen to national letters of intent.
A senior at Springville High School in Springville, Utah, Chamberlain is the No. 1 ranked high school wrestler in the country by Wrestling USA Magazine at 135 pounds. Chamberlain is the 2007 junior freestyle national champion and finished runner-up for the Greco-Roman national title. He is a three-time state of Utah high school champion at 112 pounds as a freshman, 125 pounds his sophomore season and 140 pounds last year as a junior. Heading into his senior season, his overall high school record is 139-2 for a 98.6 winning percentage. He is also a former Fila cadet freestyle national champion. Along with excelling on the wrestling mat, Chamberlain is an outstanding student with a grade-point-average of 3.75. He plans to study human body and physical exercise at Boise State. His high school coach is Justin Judkins.
Larson, a senior at Hermiston High School in Hermiston, Oregon, competes at the 160-pound weight division. As a junior last year, Larson helped his team to the state title when he placed third at Oregon High School Championships. Team captain and ranked No. 1 in Oregon, Larson’s current all-time high school record is 116-27. Other national finishes for Larson include second at the sophomore nationals, second at the Reno worlds, and a second and third place finishes at the Las Vegas freestyle championships.
Owen is the nation’s No. 2 ranked high school wrestler at 119 pounds. A senior at University High School in Spokane, Washington, Owen has lost only three matches during his high school career. He is a two-time state runner-up and has captured one state of Washington High School Championship. At this past summer’s junior national tournament, Owen placed second in the freestyle division, and third in the Greco-Roman division. He won the cadet Greco-Roman national champion in 2004, while finishing fourth at freestyle. Owen, the brother of current Bronco volunteer assistant coach Tom Owen, is also an outstanding student with a 3.40 GPA.
