Broncos Ready To Take on The Region

Coach Brad Wick on the Regional “Our goal this year is to finish in the top-15. Both teams are running the strongest they have run all season right now, and it is going to be exciting to see how they finish. There is going to be a lot of great competition because our region is by far the most competitive region in the country. A tenth place finish here may be third place finish in another region.”
WAC Championships - The men entered the WAC Championship with no finish lower than third in any meet this season and kept that streak alive as they placed five runners in the top 20 to earn a second-place finish. The women took fifth-place in the WAC Championships, led by senior Breanna Sande’s second-place overall finish.
Freshman Brian Pierre paved the way for the Broncos, coming in fifth overall as one of the two Broncos in the top ten.
The Bronco women were led by senior Breanna Sande, who finished in second-place overall with a time of 18:25.80 in the 5k event. With Sande’s top tier finish, she was the only Bronco to earn a spot on the 2008 All-WAC team. Senior Kendra Hernandez was the next finisher for the Broncos coming in at 23rd with a time of 19:19.80. Sophomores Carly Gerard and Karleigh Gempler were the next Broncos to cross the finish lines as they came in 28th and 30th with times of 19:33.90 and 19:37.70, respectively. Another senior Pam Ward finished up the scoring for the Broncos as she crossed the finish line in 34th with a time of 19:50.40.
