
Shields? Career Concludes after NCAA First Round Singles Loss

COLLEGE STATION, Texas Boise State senior Clancy Shields ended his career as a Bronco on Wednesday afternoon when he was defeated in the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles Round of 64 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on the campus of Texas A&M. Shields, who is ranked No. 24 in the nation in singles play, fell to 50th-ranked Roy Kalmanovich of Illinois, 6-2, 6-1 in their first round match.
Shields ends his season with a 28-10 singles record as well as falling just short of the 100-win mark in his career total with a 97-45 record. The tournament was the third NCAA singles competition for Shields and he ends his career with a 1-3 record at the national tournament in singles.
Kalmanovich improves to 30-12 on the season and will face the winner of the top-ranked Arnau Bruges (
