Boise State women's swimming and diving will welcome nine new teammates next season
We really got all of our top recruits that we sought out," Hill said. "Six of the girls coming in were on the same recruiting trip which is fun because they already know each other a bit and amongst themselves, without our prompting, had talked about being a class together here at Boise State. That's pretty special and extraordinary."
Also special is the class that will be leaving the Broncos at the end of the season.
"It's impossible to replace our current senior class, as these are the young women who really got our program to where it is today," said Hill. "They were our first recruiting class who came because they bought into the vision we talked about, but didn't yet have. Now that we are in the fifth year of our program, the accomplishments we have as a team are a result of their hard work, belief in the program, and phenomenal recruiting by everyone associated with this team. As we send them off into the next phase in their lives, we are excited to welcome this new freshman class that is full of academic talent, athletic prowess, character, and love for Boise State."
Boise State swimming and diving is the defending Western Athletic Conference Champion. The Broncos are off to a 6-0 start in the 2010-11 season, the best in the program's five-year history. The group of incoming student-athletes will compete in the Mountain West Conference, as Boise State changes conference affiliations next year. Hill is excited about the direction of the program as the changes draw nearer.
"Over the past 15 years of college coaching I have never had more than a handful of swimmers or divers commit in the fall," Hill explained. "To have put together an incoming freshman class of this magnitude by the end of October was a great accomplishment and really sets us up to make the move to the Mountain West conference and reach our next goal of being a top 20 team at the NCAA Championships."
